Press Reviews
FOREST STREAM Last Season Purity rating: 5,5 of 6 Finally, a worthy black metal act emerging fromthe country of mine. Lately everything's been rather quit in Russia's black metal camp, however this was worth the waiting this work.FOREST STREAM appeares as a pretty youngcombo, nevertheless they've already contrived tocome up with a stunning work. Musically, this ismid-paced, a bit doomy blend ofblack metal, incredibly (and uniquely) atmospheric, bringing forth the inimitable kind of ambiences, supplemented with enchanting harmonies andversatile lines (typical blackish screams, mild (hmm) growling and finally, a surprisingenjoyable clean voice). Actually, I wish I couldbe able to make a better description, however itis almost impossible when you're facing such aband as FOREST STREAM, simply because atmosphereis the keyword when it comes toLast Season Purity. It doesn't have anything incommon with BURZUM's Hvis Lyset Tar Oss and Det Som Engang Varmusically and it DOES have, atmospherically.Lastly, despite the songs length (up to 12 minutes),this CD doesn't get boring or whatever. Verdict?Well, you wanted it and you'll get it: EXELLENT. (reviewed by Herr Stakhammar of Vae Solis web Zine) FOREST STREAM - "Last Season Purity" Tears of Mortal Solitude Recs. Rating: 10+/10 FOREST STREAM is a duet hailing from a tiny Russian town Chernogolovka, conducted by two dark lonesome souls: Sonm and Omin. The given release is their full-lenght debut, however, it could be regarded as a mini album since its total playing lenth is just 35 minutes long. Sonm characterized me FOREST STREAM's style as "Funeral Metal", a description that totally intrigued me. After having given "Last Season Purity" a listen, I realized the meaning of Sonm's words. To get a basic view of the way FOREST STREAM sound, mix up SUMMONING circa "Minas Morgul", LIMBONIC ART of "Moon in the Scorpio"-times plus ASHES YOU LEAVE "Desperate Existence"-era, add perfect keyboard/synth arrangements and absolutely excellent sound-production. There are three songs present on this release (besides an intro and outro), the shortest of which being 8 minutes long; the fact that only contributes to the overall epic feel. "Last Season Purity" evokes deep emotions of melancholy and pure sadness; feelings that crystalize the human soul. Without any doubts, if properly promoted, this release will become an underground classic in the next several years. One of the sincerest efforts that I have heard so far.
