Artist History
Ruck "Tha WorldWin"Formally know as "The Ruckus," Ruck has been involved in the Hip-Hop culture since early high school. A native of Hampton, VA, Ruck started his career as an entertainer dancing and choreographing routines for area dance groups. His love for music and stage performance soon led him to writing and performing his own original songs.Ruck had performed with many local groups in the Tidewater area and it was not until 1995, when Ruck was performing one of his songs at a bowling party, he met up with DJ Spade 1, one of the top Hip-Hop DJ's in the state of Virginia. Spade was immediately impressed with his showmanship, enthusiasm, and lyrical talent, and after that meeting, DJ Spade 1 featured Ruck on many of his street mixed tapes and CD's. As Ruck started gaining popularity in the underground, his supporters urged him to record a demo and try for a record deal. Ruck was soon introduced to Vaughan Brayboy (Five Nine), founder of and producer for Table Top Productions. After months of writing and development, Ruck and Five Nine recorded a number of songs for the demo. Unfortunately, they did not get the deal that they had hoped for, but that did not stop them from pursuing their goals and dreams. In 1999, with more experience and dedication, Ruck hit the studio again with DJ Spade1 on a mission to record yet another demo. Ruck gained more exposure this time and had the opportunity to open for many rap artists, such as Mad Skillz and Tribe Called Quest. Rucks' music is best described as exhilarating and thought provoking. Ruck considers himself a poet, and each one of his poetic creations has meaning and truth with it. Ruck is not easily impressed with the materialistic and degrading reputation of Hip-Hop music today, and is using his music to address this and many other problems that plague the black community. Ruck is influenced by artists such as The Roots, Tribe Called Quest, Dead Pres, Cocoa Brothers, and Big Daddy Kane, just to name a few. Currently, Ruck is still working with his close friend, DJ Spade1, who is one of the founders of and producers for Soul Foundation Music. You can also find Ruck doing collaboration's with other artists, such as Shang, Mystery, Five Nine, Golden Child, and Star Brown. Listen to him with open ears and find the truth within his lyrics. Ruck "Tha WorldWin" is guaranteed to be one of the strongest voices in Hip-Hop, and we cordially invite you to join us…Soul Foundation Music |
