    Artist History
Take Zero was formed in the Fall of 1999 by front man Duke Davis and drummer Dan Welch. Duke Davis, a guitar player/songwriter from Philadelphia was living in St. Louis at the time when he met Dan Welch, a St. Louis native. Dan is a hard hitting double bass drummer with an aggressive and unique style, along with an unlikely background of jazz and big band. Duke's guitar styles are straight ahead hard hitting metal riffs with roots in late 80's metal greats like Anthrax and Suicidal Tendencies. The two aspiring headbangers soon became fast friends. It all started in Dan's basement, long nights of drinking beer and writing songs. From the start the two swore to make the music the priority in this band. No attitudes or big headed fu-fu dolls would be able to play this gig. It would be a four piece, with Duke handling the vocals they would soon complete the lineup. So Take Zero was born, a no frills no bullshit straight up hardcore metal band. Is this a great country or what? With the addition of rhythm guitarist Jay Z., the band was complete in the summer of 2000 and they recorded their first CD, a five track demo called "Demo-lition". It wasn't long and the band played its first gigs at small venues in St. Louis. The crowd's response was awesome! The band's set consists of mostly original songs with a few covers here and there. The band grew stronger as a unit and quickly began rocking the house with an energetic in your face live sound, coupled with a passion filled on stage presence.Take Zero has begun to establish themselves as a steadfast and true underground band. With a new CD due out late summer of 2001 the band has shows lined up for the up coming months and is looking forward to partying with the metal/punk scene in St. Louis and beyond! With the addition of new bass player Boy Chad, and the solid backbone of rhythm guitarist Jay Z, Take Zero is ready to be there when the curtains come down in flames and the boy bands are running for their mommies' bosoms! Take Zero will bring the shit!So here is Take Zero, two years young and ready to make their mark on an industry gone soft with commercialism and super-model rock stars. So when you get tired of the "ear candy" and the whole rap'n angry white dude syndrome, bring yo to ass to see Take Zero...we'll be holding down the hardcore metal fort.Take Zero has a simple philosophy...work hard and write songs that rock the $@#! house! They are a band that is truly ready to play anywhere, anytime! If you any doubt just pop their debut CD "Demo-lition" in your stereo and your doubts will be pushed aside...this band kicks ass. You can contact them via their website "http://www.takezero-official.com" or call the Zerohead hotline at 314-495-4945And don't forget to get your copy of "Demo-lition" either at an up coming show (preferred of course) or from our website.
