Artist History
one six conspiracy started when matt benham asked chandler martin if he knew anyone that would be interested in recording a demo in matt's makeshift 'recording studio'. chandler said that he was actually interested in recording three songs {close your eyes, waiting and heartbeat means heartbreak} that he had been working on. matt proposed the idea to play drums on the record. chandler agreed. after laying down drums, guitar and vocals, matt asked zach newhouse (aria) to swing by and do the bass. somewhere in the middle of all of this, one six conspiracy formed. when trying to think of a name for their 'band', chandler noticed a headline that referred to the apollo 11 mission as being staged, it read 'sixteen millimeter conspiracy. neither chandler nor matt really liked this name, but they decided to shorten it to 'one six conspiracy' and leave it for the time being. the name stuck and proved unchangeable. chandler and matt went into 'studio z' to record 3 songs, two of the same and one new one {close your eyes, heartbeat means heartbreak and there she goes}. the recording proved substantial even with synth bass and an electonic drumset. zach newhouse stayed on and played bass for one six's first set of shows. inevitably, zach had to move on his own with aria, leaving chandler and matt as a two-peice. rather than considering this a setback, matt and chandler played a slew of shows as a two-peice. this marked the start of one six's journey for a bassist. after countless try-outs, lineups and recordings, matt and chandler agreed that they enjoyed playing as a two peice more than past lineups. so, they started from scratch. eventually, one six landed mike garzon, front man of near the never. the group finally felt like they had found someone who not only matched the band's style musically, but personally as well. before going into the studio to record their full length in december 2002, kurt leuschner, also of near the never fame, joined. thus completing the wall of sound that one six had worked so hard for. one six's first record is a showcase of the best years of their life. it will be available as soon as humanly possible.
