Artist History
Once upon a time there was a little band called Odlid!. Over the course of four years, Odlid! became one of the biggest little bands you would NEVER hear. While never garnering the mass success that major bands achieve, Odlid!'s story is quite common, but on a smaller level. It all starts with the music, and for Odlid! the music started in garages and bedrooms in Davenport, Iowa. The early-to-mid 1990's was an exciting time for music, and an exciting time to be a musician. Indie-rock and "alternative" was all the rage. Rock music in its many forms, from punk to indie-pop, to underground noise was experiencing a golden age. Somewhere in between, trying to fit in was Odlid!, a band that couldn't really decide which direction it wanted to go. Audiences either loved them, or turned up their noses in disgust. Odlid! liked to genre-hop, and wasn't the most consistent in doing so. A live show was a toss-up. You'd hear bits of Hardcore, Pop, Metal, Ska, Funk, and Punk, all fighting to come through in the mix. Listening to a live Odlid! show could often sound like a compilation of many bands. From song to song, the sound would change, and the members of Odlid! would change as well. By the end of Odlid!'s four year career, six people had been a part of the three-piece band. Odlid! played live, went on the road, got some radio play, gained a little tiny bit of label interest, experienced internal turmoil, made records, and eventually inploded. The full story of the band could easily rival the stories on "Behind The Music"... |
