Artist History
Born in Germany and growing up in the 1980's and 90’s, German was influenced by
American hard-rock and instrumental guitar music such as Yngwie Malmsteen and Racer X. When German was twelve his grandmother bought a guitar, which he picked up and started playing. He soon got serious about the guitar and took private lessons in classical and electric guitar. One day he saw a TV show, where a guitar player was attempting to make a world record in being the fastest guitar player. This impressed German so much that he decided to become the best and fastest guitar player in the world. He practiced daily for eight or more hours, mastering many techniques. By the time he was sixteen he was able to play the songs of his idols, such as Paul Gilbert and Yngwie Malmsteen. German performed with many hard rock and progressive rock bands in Germany. After finishing High School in 1995, he attended the Munich Guitar Institute ( MGI) in 1996 and was voted the fastest guitar player. During that time he played in the progressive rock band Apex Beat and the pop rock band Underachiever, performing weekly concerts for a large audience and playing as the opening act for Aaron Carter in front of 80,000 people. He also kept busy recording albums for various original hard rock bands and projects. In 1998 he left Germany to go to Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, in order to refine his guitar playing and compositional skills. Under the guidance of Jon Finn, Joe Stump, and Wayne Krantz, German developed a new and more in depth approach to the guitar, opening new and unlimited possibilities. He received several Scholarships and Awards during his studies. Recently, German has finished his education at Berklee College of Music with a Bachelors Degree in Professional Music graduating with honors, Magna Cum Laude. He also has been playing guitar for a new Musical Production, “ Hot Star Nebraska“ which was performed in spring 2002. German’s music has earned outstanding reviews around the world as well as many air plays from international radio stations. In the summer of 2002, German taught guitar for the Berklee College of Music’s Guitar Sessions. Additionally, in fall 2002, German was asked to write several articles for the MelBay Web site “ guitarsessions.com” . After a huge positive response from guitar players, MelBay chief editor and writer Steven Rekas, asked him to start working on a book, covering many new rock guitar techniques and concepts. Currently, German is working on his music, practicing, recording 24 hours a day, and rehearsing with his solo band as well as recording and playing out with his new sounding rock project “ Esoteriqa” which draws from several styles, including funk, shred and hip hop. German will be teaching this summer the 5 week performance and 1 week guitar session program at Berklee College of Music again. This summer, German will be performing with his band at the prestigious “ Jemfest” in Orlando, Florida

Press Reviews
" Plenty of good songwriting skills and diversity in his licks and rhythms; excellent debut..."--Quintessence Webzine(www.community2.webtv.net/fretsaxesriffs/January2002/page4.html)---" A new German guitar hero whose music best represents resurgence in Malmsteen and Dream Theater - style theatrics, Dream Theater because of Schauss' technical expertise, his songs groove with numerous chord progressions, fiery picking and unrestrained arrangements and Yngwie Malmsteen because Schauss' compositions produce epical scales that are fast with a neo-classical edge, thus what we hear are exciting well thought out compositions, full of energy, extremely fast picking, good tapping and sweeping techniques. "--Flash Magzine ( www.LoudMetal.com )--
"German is an excellent guitarplayer and it all sounds very impressive. Songs like "The Awakening" (slightly progressive), "The Dawn" (very attractive guitar playing a la MALMSTEEN) and "Dreams" (very melodic a la instrumental DOKKEN) just sound great. "-- Strutter 'Zine--(Holland)
