    Artist description
Fastest Turbo Fire Engine has taken proven formulas and combined them to make music that moves people using complex rhythms, an open sound, hooks galore, and lyrics that entice the soul. Jason sums it up like this, "We've got something real, baby. People are naturally attracted to that. People are sick of the pro-quo. It's no longer business as usual. We're here to change all that."

    Artist History
Back in 1998, Jason was playing with a group called "Carpetbomb" who won the Midwest Band Tourniment during his tenure. While Jason was with Carpetbomb, he was also writing songs which he felt would someday fit a diferent mold. Carpetbomb dissolved back in 1999, leaving Jason with the opportunity to front his own band. In 1999, Gelly graduated from college, and moved to the Twin Cities. Jason had known him for years, and had played with him in a band called "Chalcedony Stone". Gelly was a natural choice and a welcome addition to the line-up. Through numerous auditions, we found Mike Weinand on bass, whose skills at bass and networking made him a perfect fit for the band.

    Press Reviews
From www.indiefan.com : Fastest Turbo Fire Engine - Self Titled EP Artist: Fastest Turbo Fire Engine Title: Self Titled EP Genre: Alternative Rock Label: N/A I have a unique perspective to review this EP by this Minneapolis, MN-based band. This past Saturday I had an opportunity to hear them perform live in a small club and got to experience the newly expanded lineup (Only Jason & Gelly played on the EP). The band now includes Mike "Spidey" Weinand on bass and Kevin Patrick (also in The Cans) on lead guitar. I hate definitive genres so I'll coin a new one for FTFE - Melodic Grunge. It's probably wrong, but as styles go these guys ride the fence. For an initial EP the tunes are well-recorded and the live sound of this band carries through. Having really enjoyed seeing them on stage, listening to this CD closely paralleled their sound. I can sense several influences in their music, not the least of which is the "Twin Cites Sound". It must be the long winters or maybe it's all the nordic blondes wandering around, but somehow I've started to notice a whole unique sound coming out of the St. Paul - Minneapolis bands (Think ABCD if you know them). Whatever it is, it echoes in these FTFE tracks. Two Ton Heavy Thing is a rock balad with almost a Ziggy Stardust quality - echoing vocals and dirty guitars. It's got a definate "hold up your lighters and sway" effect. Happy, on the other hand, is just screaming for some air-play. As playable songs go this one hits the mark in every way. Don't take that as a stab - this is a great song. The guitars on the hook are distorted but melodic and I can't help but hum along. Track 3, Round, is a downtempo tune with the feeling of STP meets Audioslave. I have two real hopes for these guys - I hope they stick around long enough to put down a full album (their website says they're in the process of putting together funding for the project now) and I want to see them live again. Make an effort to track these guys down - I think you'll be glad you did. Score: 4 Stars
