Artist History
Bluestar are a three piece original rock outfit from Melbourne. Mark Hutson (Guitar/Vocals) together with Leo Wings (Drums) originally started in early 1998 writing songs together. Mark has been an original song writer for eight years and first started playing the guitar at the age of twelve. Leo has been an original song writer and Drummer for seven years and has worked along side Melbourne band "In Theory…". as producer and co-ordinator. He has also done schooling in music business management at N.M.I.T. and has worked in local community based Radio stations. In January 2001 Bluestar was officially formed.
Bluestar released their first EP 'Stories' in September 2001 with original Bass player Jade Nagy. With it came a great welcome both here and overseas, the cd was sold at a few retail stores around Melbourne including Gaslight (city) and Polyester (Fitzroy). And with huge amounts of Internet downloads and website hits to complement the new Australian entry to the music industry. Bluestar have also received airplay on local radio stations throughout Australia.
Bluestar headed back into the studio September 2002 to record a follow up to 'Stories' with 13 fresh killer new tracks for their forth coming album 'Up All Night' (un-released)
Bluestar have played a big roll in the live music scene during 2001, 2002 and 2003 playing many headlining shows including Armadale Hotel (Armadale) and The Planet Upstairs (Fitzroy)
Leaving 2002 behind them 2003 heads a new year for this 3 piece rock band, with all new material, direction and a new line up, now with Angelo Saridis (Ex Swank) on Bass with over 10 years experience in the music industry.

Press Reviews
Bluestar can write the most eloquent language, but the amazing impressions in their music are often brought about by the aural inventions with which they juxtapose serious, beautiful and grotesque elements. There are few things in music today as compact and spellbinding as the climax of many of their sounds. Here the potency of the conception is inseperable from the multi-levelled series of devices that become its expression. What Bluestar have introduce is the idea of intelligent musicians capable of judging the values of their contributions. Their music is a nightmare of vast feuds over tiny details, of surrealist anecdotes that all turn round the same assertation: everything needs to change. The artistic consequences are severe. Their music is not a jungle, it is a machine into which a great many parts snugly interlock. Yet each of these parts is brutalised; it has been deformed to fit and function smoothly. In theory, this tension should lead to an atmosphere of fear and were this the case, its destructiveness would be clearly seen. In practice, however, the underlying tension leads just as directly to an atmosphere which is very emotional, throbbing with an extraordiary sense of calm and control. Ladies and gentlemen....Bluestar. |
