Artist description
Their own particular mix of punk rock and metal has developed from a direct contrasting reaction to the sleepy villages that surround the band. Their music is filled with an angst and energy that can only be described as a wake up call to all those that hear it. Although the average age of the band is only twenty-five most have been performing regularly for the last eight years. This has helped the band find their own particular musical style and sound. The members have developed their songs out of a mutual respect for each other’s creativity. This has ment that there is no ‘one’ songwriter in 18th Emergency as all members contribute lyrics as well as music. It is this development that has kept the band’s material diverse yet still with an overall distinctive sound. The songs being filled with catchy riffs, melodic choruses and up- tempo beats. |

Formed three years ago from the remains of other musical groups, the members of the band were in no doubt as to the attitude, which would form the back bone of the new band. It would be all or nothing. This feeling being born out of a long time respect and admiration for live music. |

Press Reviews
18th Emergency - Therapution 7 track mini album.Review by "The Gibber" E-zine, Aug 2000Second release from Kent's very own 18th Emergency. Nothing to complain about here. From start to beginning Therapution is a brilliant range of punk rock / metal tunes. Highlights can be seen in the songs Solution, 5th Wheel, and Answer. Self promoted under their own Label Headcase Records, 18th Emergency prove that music can still be good without being corporate. It deserves a place in anyone's record collection. Buy, Buy, Buy! 18th Emergency "Shut it!" EP Review by Neil Waters "Tribal Scream" magazine, Dec 99..Competent first recording by Cranbrook's finest Punk/Rock band. All four tracks are worthy of recording something that can't be said of many self-releases. ..The first track is the weakest, but it does have a wicked guitar effect for a short intro. Reminds me of numerous early 80's metal bands in its musical style with a typical punk vocal. "North by north west " is the track that most stands apart from its brothers. It's got a chorus verse structure thatthat shows great skill at crafting unrelated styles together, the fast and furious with the slower grunge ballad vocal hook, excellent. "Bad day" chugs along and would make the pit heave at any gig, especially as the annoying backing vocals would disappear in the melee. The final track "Should have kept you're mouth shut" brings matters to a close in an all out punk vein. It's a jumpy, aggressive, sub 3-minute slice of attitude. ..18th Emergency could go far and this first self released EP is a must for any collector of Punk / Heavy Rock. We are talking potential sort after rarity here. Can't wait for the soon to be released follow up EP. |
