Artist History
Trio Grande was formed in 1984. Centred around the two hurdy-gurdies (as well as flute anddiatonic accordion) of Silke Reichmann and Hans Lang, their repertoire consisted mainly ofnew and own compositions of Central European dance music such as French bourrées andGerman zwiefache, schottische and waltzes, influenced by Arabian scales and Africanrhythms. 1991, prestigeous awards won at the most important event for drone-based music,France's St. Chartier Festival, were obvious signs of the musical quality of their hurdy- gurdy playing. Prior to that, Silke Reichmann had provided the hurdy?gurdy sounds in thesoundtrack to the movie "The Name of the Rose". |
