Artist History Singer, songwriter Damone Anthony is taking Los Angeles audiences by storm. Damone's arresting stage presence and eclectic mix of pop, rock and soul packs fans at such L.A. hot spots as Sunset's Key Club and Luna Park where he was selected from hundreds of bands to perform on the official closing night of the famous West Hollywood venue in November 2000. Damone, 28, has composed his own music since childhood and draws his sound from a wide range of musical influences starting with the Motown records he grew up with to 80's pop stars such as Culture Club, George Michael and Prince. By high school Damone had already garnered some well-deserved recognition for his performances with the school choir and local events around his native northern California.Damone studied visual arts at Rutgers University in New Jersey but soon returned to California to pursue his musical aspirations. Damone supported himself as a celebrity makeup artist while singing back-up for Redd Haus, a popular Bay Area funk band. When the lead singer missed a performance one night, Damone filled in lead vocals and the band members elected him to take center stage.Soon after, Damone moved to Los Angeles to be at the heart of the music industry where he started a new band under the name Damone Anthony. He continued working with celebrities as a makeup artist while composing, performing and recording in his spare time. While his success as a musician steadily grew, his success as a makeup artist and eyebrow expert skyrocketed with the eyebrow craze of the late 90's. Damone is now one of the most sought-after eyebrow and makeup artists in the United States, with a long list of celebrity clients, including Madonna, whose music he considers a constant source of inspiration. Other musical influences include Macy Gray, Lenny Kravitz and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.Damone feels his sound has a definite place in today's pop radio. "My music crosses boundaries," he says.
