Artist History
Vocalist, acoustic guitarist, and principal songwriter Andrew Janisch has been active in the Cape music scene for four years. In 1995 Andrew joined bassist Quentin Hewlett (a classically-trained French horn player and cellist) and drummer Gary Verster to form Woodshed. Electric guitarist Ted Baumann joined in mid-1996. Ted had previously led Cape Town R&B bands The Infidels, Groove Kings and the Lonesharks. His funky, groove-based rhythms and Beck-ish solo style added a distinct texture to Woodshed's music. More recently Free Love replaced Quentin on bass.
Since then, some 300 gigs, including two highly successful Grahamstown Festivals, have built up a strong support base for the band.
