Artist History
Our concpet is to take the Metal/Thrash/Prog and Pop influences we had grown up with and combine them in a new format that would take up where Vai and Satriani had left off, with the focus on writing great songs, not just blazing solos...(Okay, there are a few of those LOL!) Unlike many instrumental acts that are going techno, the Stompers plan on keeping thier feet firmly planted in thier roots...ROCK!!! |

Press Reviews
Guitar 9 records review of As Above..So Below__Are you ready to stomp? Check out San Jose's heavy instrumental band, Tommy And The Stompers, led by the lightning-quick guitar of Tommy Merry. Their cassette release, entitled As Above...So Below, features ten hard-driving songs ranging from grinding thrash numbers to commercially viable rockers. Merry is a master of head-snapping riffs and his flawless soloing propels songs such as "Undertow", "Cambria" and "Thrashmeat". The group's compositions go beyond shred though, as each tune stands up on its own melodically, and feature interesting arrangements and a developed sense of dynamics. This is not your father's shred! From their very first show, an East Bay Battle of the Bands that Tommy And The Stompers took first place in, to their latest show, a North Bay battle of the bands they also took first place in, the trio have been building speed and momentum in the Bay Area, developing a legion of stomp-a-holics. Their hard crunching rock instrumentals have brought them opening spots for metal superstars such as Metallica, Rat, Lita Ford and Tony MacAlpine. Lately their music has been aired on Bay Area heavy weight station KSJO as the background theme for the traffic and weather report |
