Artist description
The Joey Thomas Big Band is an award winning nineteen piece Orchestra. We are proud to have been Voted "Best of the best" by Metroland Magazine in 1999 and 2002. We have been Grammy nominated at entry level for our "Live on WAMC" CD in 2000 and "The Sinatra Show Volume I" CD in 2001.
The JTBB consists of 16 professional musicians and music educators along with two very talented and seasoned vocalists. (male and female).
Rounding out our staff is a highly trained and knowledgeable recording and sound technician who insures that our live sound and our recording mixes are one in the same.
The JTBB specializes in performing the classic arrangements as recorded by the original hit makers.
Big Band Swing is an American Heritage. The JTBB is committed to the perpetuation of this American treasure through performances which include dances, weddings, private parties of all kinds, fund raisers, charity events, High School and College dances, concerts and clinics, special performances, specialty tributes, dedications, occasional TV appearances, as well as monthly Live Radio Shows.
Our music library is quite extensive with over 3000 arrangements and growing daily. At present we have two staff arrangers/writers who are defining the sound of the JTBB. They capture the uniqueness of the musicians who make up the JTBB and the dreams of Joey Thomas.
Hopefully, through the use of original music and arrangements written specifically for the JTBB, we will reach our goal of becoming a Nationally Recognized Big Band.
For the finest in Big Band Entertainment and music the only choice is The Joey Thomas Big Band. Remember; our business is your pleasure.
Thanks, Joey Thomas

Press Reviews
The following reviews are from radio dj's and station around the USA.----------------------------------------------------Review #1:----------------------From Bill Miller host of The Bill Miller Show: I Like it...I like the big band sound and arrangements of Joey Thomas and I especially dig the sounds of Jay Traynor. Sinatra and Darin would both approve of this guy's interpretations of their great classics. J&J Records has a winner with "Live - On WAMC Radio". I promised lots of airplay for this one!------------------------------------------------------------------------Review #2:------------------------From Jim Stone on WLNZ 89.7 FM Capital City Jazz Connection Lansing, MI. I had the pleasure talking to Jay Traynor (the original Jay of Jay & The Americans) about his brand new CD called "Live - On WAMC Radio". This is a powerful Big Band CD that almost made the cut for the Grammy nominations this year (Note:'99). It should have because I would not only have nominated the CD for a Grammy but made it a Grammy Winner. This is one of the best Swing CD's I have heard and Jay swings hard like Darin & Sinatra but in his own fine style. This was recorded in one take live on the air just like in the Dorsey days. Keep up the great work and the next stop for this CD is BBS's Top 30. |
