Press Reviews
Phantom Shifters, Given Half A Chance We'll Wreck It For Everybody, G.A.S. Records. Local (Ottawa Ont.) Rockers The Phantom Shifters have put together a debut disc that would make a killer "Mad Max" soundtrack. Chugging like a V8 engine with two blown cylinders, Given Half a Chance is the perfect blend of loud garage and punk with a well-defined battle-cry against anything remotely slick. With a battered two-stringed bass, frontman Ryan Kerr snarls through the record sounding like he took a giant haul off a tailpipe. Somehow Kerr manages to capture as much vocal energy as he puts out every live show, making this a smoking first offering from a local band that has plenty more to offer.-Chris Page, Ottawa X Press. |
