Artist History Founded in the late 80's as a high school R&B trio, the early incarnation of Wessyde found itself performing in local talent shows and industry showcases. In 1990, Berchee, Baby Boy and Shuv met producer Cyrus Melchor who began developing their sound as a blend of both R&B and hip hop while introducing live instrumentation. In 1994, the Wessyde Goon Squad was signed to Yab Yum/Epic Records. They created a monumental album titled "Around the World" that got caught in the stickiest red tape know as the r ecord industry. The album never saw the light of day although a couple of singles were released and heavily rotated on The Box and got a few spins on MTV and BET. The love for music is so strong, they continue to work long hours in the studio creating sounds that they love and now, with the advent of the internet, they wish to share the fruits of their labor with the electronic world.¶

The LA-based trio on Babyface's new label combine complicated beats with precise scratching, polished west coast flavor and southernplayalistic vibes. Rapper Berchee has an agressive delivery while Shuv's style is smooth but just as intense. Baby Boy adds a sensual voice to the Goon Squad's brew. He rocks the mic like, say, Domino but has way more singing skills. The island flavored groove of 'Crazy' (the first single) and the guitar-heavy prevail-over-adversity tune 'Ghetto Conflict' are standouts.
