Artist History
kHz
Raiana- all voices
Pull- Guitar, keyboards and programming
Denny- live bass & keyboards
After releasing their debut album "Cryogenic Sleep" to the public in 1997, and immediately creating a buzz in the NYC underground music scene, kHz went on for a year and a half playing live shows in support of their release. kHz soon began to perform with such well-known artists as Hooverphonic, Siouxie Sioux's The Creatures, Saint Etienne & Chemlab to name a few. It was after that time period that new visions and music began. So back in the studio they went and a metamorphosis began. Not into something different, but something with more power then they already had. Something influenced by their live shows and alas, EMOTRONIC the new album was created.
Since the release of Emotronic kHz has been kept very busing playing live supporting such acts as MDFMK and once again St. Etienne. They have appeared Live on TV 's Farmclub and released the first in a series of dance remixes off the album Emotronic. "Bobby" the first release has already become a hit in the most popular clubs coast to coast as well as earning the support of DJ Junior Vasquez.
Lead singer Raiana appears before you with a persona much different from that of the ever-present 'alternative female rocker'. She breeds 2001 inspired sexiness, and brings Billie Holiday and Portishead into a futuristic world. Not to mention possessing the physical beauty of gothic meets Star Wars with a voice so angelic that you feel guilty about how she makes you feel. Its no wonder kHz's live performance leaves such an affect on people. Aside from kHz Raiana has found time to share her voice with such acts as Mindless Self indulgence and top producers like Mark Kamen and John Robie.
The talents of kHz mastermind, multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ, Pull has not gone unnoticed. Since kHz surfaced, Pull has added remixing to his already impressive portfolio. He has added his magic to records by major recording artists such as Everything but the Girl, Dimitri from Paris, Bare Naked Ladies, and Brandy among others.
Enter Denny, Who adds the final ingredient and solidifies the trio's affection for being a band and not a processed studio gig.
In 2001 Expect to see 2 Music Videos, hear kHz behind episodes of this years "Real world" on MTV, as well as Zalaman King's new series on Showtime. In 2002 expect a new album, more dance remixes and possibly get a full remix album mixed by kHz's own Pull.
KHz's music is highly original and groundbreaking. They combine the best of electronic & Rock music with the heart and emotion of true melody. With the release of Emotronic, look for kHz to break barriers and tear down the walls of conformity. www.thekhz.com

Press Reviews
Female fronted melodic Electro ethereal. The music of kHz has a true lyrical depth that zaps me into feeling something deep inside my inner core. Consistently expanding upon their emotionally expanding style with each new release, Emotronic is no exception. The album consists of downtempo electronic mind candy highlighting Raiana’s sensual vocals. The programming on “same as” and “open me” utilizes well placed minimalist compositions that bring her intonation and superb lyrical delivery to the forefront of each song. The grittier side of kHz comes out on “what you want” and “the ballad of Mary Beth” with Raiana aggressively tearing at the words over a steady guitar driven background. Adding yet another dimension to the album,”accelerator pt.III” is an uber cool monologue exploring the evolution of house music, done to a classic dance beat. Each song provides a unique way of tapping into the emotional receptors inside of us all, making Emotronic the perfect compliment to an introspective night alone. kHz is highly recommended to those looking for electronic music with a pure human soul. –Lucasta Outburn magazine |
