    Artist description
J.Lynn Johnston utilizes his early diet of Motown soul and white trash power ballads to create a moving experience for the listener. His music is passionately polished. His vocals are crisp and clean, while his out-of-standard guitar tunings and keep th e song structures unique. J.Lynn has a gift for capturing the moments in life and love, and expanding on them with wit and insight. "I like to think my music hits people hard," J.Lynn says. "Whether it’s a particular lyric or a chaotic effect I layered int o the background of a song, I want people to cock their heads and say, ‘Wait… Lemme hear that again.’" - - - When J.Lynn was three years old, he sang the song "Bullfrogs and Butterflies" for his church in the Bay Area of California. Since those humble beginnings, he has lent his vocal talents to many recording projects and stage productions, including a smashing rendition of Richard Marx’s "Right Here Waiting" when he was eleven years old. - - - - J.Lynn joined his first real band at fourteen, and was promptly kicked out for not having a gritty enough voice for the Metallica and Nirvana covers th e other members wanted to play. Those wounds healed in time, and he has been playing in local scenes throughout California ever since. As the frontman for the San Francisco area’s Barefoot In The Rain, J.Lynn was able to stretch his songwriting wings a nd woo many women. San Luis Obispo, California’s HyperCell afforded him the opportunity to experience exotic cuisine with two tours of Eastern Europe, as well as garnering national radio airplay through mp3.com’s syndicated rock radio show. - - - - Think of Jeff Buckley fronting the Foo Fighters. Think of Bends-era Radiohead having tea with Soundgarden, then asking Michael Jackson to lend vocals. Whatever you think, just be sure to think of J.Lynn Johnston.
