When his dad gave him a guitar it became evident music lived in his soul : “I had the world at my fingertips,” he says, and J.D. spent countless hours in his teenage years pounding on the keyboard and jamming on his acoustic. Today his style is the old electric blues of the greats like, Stevie Ray, and B.B. King. His intensity explodes with that soulful growl in the (what we like to call the) “smoking part” of Stormy Monday. And he has been compared to the likes of jam buddy Kenny Wayne Shepard. But J.D. Summers is never more masterful and intense than when he performs his original work.
