Artist description
Former Drummer/Vocalist of Hit The Ground Runnin' runs with his own solo career. KATONE's music and overall sound is often compared to Ministry, Marilyn Manson, and Nine Inch Nails. "I really don't like being lumped into a group of artists", explains KATONE. "It's not that I don't like these bands; in fact, I'm a huge Trent Reznor fan (mostly as a producer), and I have alot of respect for Brian (Warner), he's a hell of a performer and I don't think we've seen anyone quite like him in our time, but I'm really just stating the fact that while my sound may resemble certain aspects of all of these bands, I'm well into my own thing". KATONE states that Rock and Roll in general is his biggest influence. "I come from a Pop/ Rock culture but I was raised on progressive music...there's alot of conflict there..the potential for a real musical mess. I grew up listening to Yes, Genesis, Bad Company, King Crimson, and Brand X, but then I totally adored Kiss as well. There is alot of inspiration in that mix". KATONE added that, "I think if you just take a Pop/Rock artist, break away all the plastic and lick off all of the sugar coating, It'll be me standing there ready to wring your neck...I have issues". |

Artist History
After departing H.G.R in early 1991, KATONE was bombarded with ideas for music he wanted to write and record but had several obstacles to get through before he could do it his way....the ONLY way. After trying various joint efforts with other musicians, he decided to go about it on his own. "Everytime I would get something started with a band or other musicians, it would turn to crap because someone always got busy or had other things to do, or whatever", explains KATONE. "I get things done quicker and easier on my own...there's no tug and pull to deal with....nobody's wives or girlfriends to contend with", he added. Figuring that he could easily put a great band together to tour, KATONE started cutting tracks, alone, in his studio, and it wasn't long before Dainty Suicide Records, out of Los Angeles, made him an offer on the spot. KATONE cut his first solo CD, 1999's "Committing Suicide", in just two months, and it was released a month later, followed by last years, "The Next Devil", which spawned 2 top requested singles on West Coast radio. KATONE is currently promoting his third CD, titled "Plastic Udder". ŽDainty Suicide Records Inc. 2001 |
