Artist History
Course of Evolution was first conceived when guitarist Matt King was offered in early January to a spot to perform at Jem Fest in May of 2001. After this notification, Matt felt he was obligated to throw together a band for this event, and quickly decided upon Brett London (Drummer) and TJ Vukan (Bass). He chose Brett as his drummer due to his unique and out-standing drumming which perfectly fits the idealistic style that Matt had in mind since he first started envisioning his music in his head. In the previous year, these two played in an annual school talent show. After enlisting this drum virtuoso, he sought out to find a competent bass player to complement the drums to lay down solid grooves, and who also shared his sense of song writing and music theory so that he could collaborate on songs. He ultimately decided upon former student and good friend TJ Vukan. Now that the trio was completed they immediately played together and came up with the song "The Words Not Spoken" which spawned them a scholastic talent show victory. Course of Evolution is unlike any other band in the world, being that they are a strictly instrumental band, which combines hum able melodies and intelligent chord work. Their songs have a strong basis in musical theory even though the melodies are emotionally based. Their music has bound together many different genres into one, such as rock, blues, fusion and techno. Their songs reflect these genres in an unusual sense as it has a touch of their own sound. Their ultimate goal in music is to create a universal language through their music and to convey their emotions so that they could reach people on personal levels despite the fact that vocals are obsolete. |
