Artist History
Bart Brady Ciampa is a composer, arranger, and trumpet/flugelhorn player who lives and records in Vancouver, Washington. He was born and raised in the Boston area where he studied with Jerry Mitchell for ten years. During college in the early 60's, he played with several groups and was fortunate enough to live near Lenny's-on-the-Pike, which was greater-Boston's premier jazz venue. During this period, he spent many nights listening to the jazz greats and was influenced by folks such as Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Zoot Sims, Al Cohn, Herb Pomeroy, Alan Dawson, Dave Lambert, Charlie Mingus, and many others. His eclectic style encompasses Latin jazz and the old jazz standards. He has released four CD's, the most recent of which is titled, "Soft Sounds, Sweet Dreams," a collection of mellow jazz standards available through Amazon.com. (On a side note, he received the Ph.D. from Boston College in 1972 and during graduate school studied the 5-string banjo with Bill Lewis/Don Stover in the Boston area. He performed on banjo with several bluegrass groups in New Hampshire and Maine from the late 60's to the late 70's before moving to Nebraska where he served as Dean of the Graduate School at Wayne State College from 1977-83. From 1983 to present he has been President of an Investment firm in Vancouver, Washington.) |
