Artist History
Anni, a very diverse yet traditional singer, has been writing and performing music since the tender age of seven. She got her start singing with her dad on long car rides to visit her grand parents in New Orleans, as she recalls, “those were some of the happiest days in my life.” At age 8 she began to perform in churches, singing along side of her father, Ed Homrighausen. At age 15 she taught herself how to play the guitar, she expanded her song writing with her now blossoming lyrical content such powerful material now dominates her work, such as: “Where is my Heaven”, “Seventeen”, and “Wake up Jason”, which walks the listener through date rape, as she intertwines them with stark melodies that make the song very easy to grasp.
At age 17 she joined a band, Silverstone. Unfortunately the band only lasted about 6 months, but did release a 3 song demo and a 7 song EP. Anni looked on it as a learning experience. That is where she met Brian Hendrix, Silverstone’s piano player, who convinced her to begin on her solo project. Through working with Hendrix, Anni signed to a producer, Knight recording studios ,inc, and in no time Anni was working on her first solo album. After about a year of working with Brian and Knight recording studio Anni decided to sever all ties with both Brain and the producer due to marketing differences. She continued to write and play at local coffee shops and occasionally churches.
After a few months of not being in the studio, Anni felt the need to once again to step into the studio, Creative sound, there she met Jim Warden, master engineer.
She began the long and costly project of finishing her first solo album. After a few months she still felt unsatisfied, and decided to take a journey to Portland, Oregon.
There in Oregon she lived as a street musician playing along side one of Portland’s blues legends, Bad Boy Blue. Anni quotes the “Portland journey” as another learning experience. “It was so amazing! There were so many kinds of people out there that just clicked with my music. For the first time in my life I felt as if I was finely free to do what I wanted to do with my music, and people really responded to it.”
After, being in Portland for several months Anni longed to be back in the south.
“I really missed the south, I missed the hot air and humidity”, Anni chuckles.
She is currently living in Houston, TX putting the final touches on her first solo album, ‘I Don’t Want the Wooden Spoon’. |
