Artist description
Ramiro Medina has mucho charisma..this is an excellent showcase of great singing/songwriting that’s got plenty of honesty built right in…Ramiro exhibits the best songwriting elements of Daniel Lanois…heartfelt and stripped to the essence……he leads a great band through some very impressive songs…you feel like you’re in the coolest place in town - a soulful Tom Petty crossed with Lenny Kravitz…pop stuff with a culture shock…Ramiro does a good job of matching his voice to the words…his song ”Bad Weather” is coolness somewhere between alternative acoustic and lazy Sundays…a solid recording…finely orchestrated… |

Artist History
Born in Asuncion, Paraguay and raised in the Washington, D. C. area, RAMIRO credits a good portion of his musical genes to his paternal grandfather, a stand-out Paraguayan troubadour from the thirties who left a veritable legacy of both published and unrecorded original material.Playing through those old charts, the younger Medina discovered his love of the quirky rhythms and instrumentation that infuse his distinctive sound. A self-taught multi-instrumentalist, RAMIRO can hold his own on guitar, bass, piano, keyboards, drums, percussion - you name it. Now living in Los Angeles, he has gained recognition for his wry lyrics, percussive guitar style and a passionate and spirited stage presence which has seen him share the stage alongside veterans such as Richie Havens, Phoebe Snow, and War. Ramiro’s debut CD, entitled In Pieces, was partly co-produced with Little Feat guitarist/songwriter Paul Barrere, a favorite of Medina’s since the early ‘70’s. |
