    Artist History
Moreno has Stomped around the Chicago music scene for more than 3 years now. Originally playing as an instumental indie rock quartet, the band frequented clubs all over the city. The band featured founding members Sean Hulet and Chris Jasinski on guitars and, varying bass players including Dave Nooks, of the now defunct Wesley Willis Fiasco, and long time drummer Kevin Martenson, now of Chicago rockers The Omega men and The Avante-garde Tenki. Sean eventually took on vocal duties thus adding the final ingredient that shaped the sound of Moreno. Big guitars and light-floaty vocals. They recorded a 4 song Demo in 1998 with Johnny K, now famous for his work with Chicago's own Disturbed and Caviar, and mixed it with Keith Cleversly (Flaming Lips, Hum). They were a favorite of clubs like The Empty Bottle where thay opened for the likes of Shiner, The Poster Children, Molly Mcguire and Hum. Late 1998 saw the addition of Mike Scheiber on bass and in early 1999 Scott Rosenquist (formerly of Chicago popsters Starball), joined the band on drums. This would solidify the lineup that would go on to record the first official Moreno release. The band entered the studio in Sept of ‘99 with Andy Gerber at the controls and recorded 7 songs for what was to be the start of a full length release from the band. Instead, eager to put something out, the band released six songs on an EP called "Thirty Three Minutes And Eleven Seconds Later..." in June 2000. May 2000 saw the addition of Kevin Rosenquist on Bass. In addition to handling the low end, he provided the extra element of live back up harmonies, an area never before explored by the band. He debuted his talents at the release party for the EP at Chicago’s Double Door on June 2nd. This past July, the band endured a heavy blow when long time guitarist Chris Jasinski announced he was leaving the band to pursue a job in San Fransisco. This left the band with the decision of either replacing the the absent guitarist or forging ahead as a 3 piece. The band has now found itself comfortably operating as a 3 piece powerhouse. With a new focus that is more intent on hooks, harmonies, and songcrafting, the band has come in to it’s own live, and soon in the studio. Recently they had the grand oppurtunity to open for Former Dinosaur Jr. front man J Mascis at the Metro in Chicago. The band looks forward to writing as a 3 piece and solidifying it’s new sound with a new record and national touring.

    Press Reviews
Moreno's debut release plays like Elliot Smith on steroids, holding on to thick melodies even as the guitars kick into high gear and Sean’s voice veers just to the sweet side of wailing.” Claire Podulka A&P Magazine“People who knew who Castor were will go fucking bananas for this shit.” Brad Crawn UR Chicago“On their recent release, Thirty Three Minutes and Eleven Sceonds Later…, these Chicagoans roar, bark, wail, and croon six tunes’ worth of rough-around-the-edges, damaged-puppy-dog rock.” Monica Kendrick Chicago Reader“Wrecked is when a jangly groove recalling early REM slams into raging 90s power rock guitars. But no matter how much noise Moreno cranks out, the band never overpowers Sean Hulet's fluid melodies.” David Joost Home Pride Chicago“Heavy-hitting guitars, drums-o-plenty, and an overall production masterpiece defines this album.” LAN Speed Records II
