Artist description
You would think that she spent time traveling in a medieval circus, or perhaps she took waltz lessons in a haunted ballroom. Although she has never been to Nashville one would almost swear she was a southern gal at heart.
Lindi seasons her musical scores like a deranged chef whipping up a culinary creation. A dash of country, a pinch of folk, a sprinkle of rock, and a smidgeon of jazz! Last but not least, to add a little spice, how about some vaudeville cabaret? No, this is not a textbook recipe, but rather a sacred scribbling from an ancient scroll.
Lindi is an enigmatic enchantress with a voice that can be cheeky and brassy or haunting and ghostly. Her music derives from the metaphysical sphere in a world that warps time and defies orthodoxy. This madness is a pure passion that has never met the technicalities of music theory. She is a wild garden of creativity where listeners relish in the untamed beauty.
Her live act is more like an experience that evokes a myriad of emotion. One can't help but get lost in the imagery of each soul-stirring song. Vibrations and melodies interpose to form a musical medley that rises into the air and creeps into that back of our minds.
With the completion of her debut album "The Taste of Forbidden Fruit", Lindi is at the twilight of her career. It will not be long before this Canadian gem receives the brand of exposure she truly merits.

Press Reviews
(Eye Magazine April 5, 2001)LINDI March 29, Holy Joe's. **** Above the haze and rumble of DJ Spooky's Reverb set, this Toronto singer held a small crowd captive with her stunning voice and lovely songs. Alternating between guitar and piano, Lindi delivered her aching, bittersweet material in a chat-stopping warbleresembling a chanteuse of old, or perhaps even Jeff Buckley (a comparison I do not make lightly). Soulful, sultry and strong, Lindi rose above any "girl singer" tag to the rank of poetess and occupied the perfect spot between flighty ethereal chick and down-to-earthcoffee-house performer. A captivating set for someone so obviously perturbed about her late time slot. -- LL |
