Artist History
We'll lets see a bio, hummm. Ok, I'll try my best to explain a little about me, my dj abilities, how I got here, and all that stuff.. It all started when I was a freshman in high school. One of my friends brought in a tape of a party (mini-rave) his brother had taken him to during summer break. Once listening to this tape which had some really cool music (from unknown artist) on it, I had fallen in love with "Techno". I played the dance and club scene for several years. During this time I frequented most of the local clubs, including the EDGE (Orlando), Sub Zero (Fern Park), and Einstein's (Jacksonville) almost every week. After high school came IU in which the scene was nowhere to be found. I held close all of my tapes till they were so worn, there was nothing left to play. Then on returning to Orlando, I had found the scene had gone underground except for the few parties I happen to come across every now and then. Time passed, I had gotten married, had a child and started a "daytime" life, and then was invited to goto Zen 96 with a few old friends. I happen to notice that the scene was still happening and was upset over the years of killer music and great time that was lost. Striving to find those few and far between dj's, that could spin what I really enjoyed hearing, I decided on looking into spinning for myself to have those tapes full of the music I wanted and enjoyed to hear. After Uswayia 97, Nakitia and I decided on buying a pair of Gemini d50's and a Radio Shack Mixer for $200. From there I started my vinyl collection and decided I could take this as far as I wanted if I only practiced. I was a father and husband during the day and during my nights I would practice for at least 4-6 hours nightly. This continued for several years. I learned by myself and without the help or influence of anyone else. An old friend happened to notice our new 1200's, Gemini 626, and Roland sp-808 one day and asked if he could bring over some records and spin, since his tables where long gone. He had a rep of being a good dj in the scene during the late 80's early 90's with ties to a few sweet local dj's. I listened to his style and watched his form during his first few times spinning and realized he wasn't any better than I was. Then I asked a few trust worthy friends to check out this cool tape I came across... I happen to leave out the fact that I made it, until they happened to think it was a cool tape! This was when people started pushing me to spin at small parties. I continued practicing and looking for those "perfect" trax to build onto my set. Now I love to spin for people and hate spinning for practice with no one around. I feel more tension to go that extra step when people are present and listening to what I'm doing. Without this push to not wreck a mix, I would never have been able to tweak my spinning imperfections to match my current style and form. I've been spinning at larger parties and being asked to spin at local clubs. Hopeful soon I will be able to make an appearance (if even a small one) at any decent size rave or event. And maybe if I continue to practice and push myself harder I will happen to find myself spinning next to one of the dj's I love to listen to such as: Monk (Rabbit in the Moon), Kimble, Sasha & John, Cosmic Baby, Josh Wink, and well, those are just a few for examples! I'm sure you understand. As for the current time, I have been working on orginal trax such as Wondering Soul, Genesis, and a few other to be released soon, as well as helping smaller and new artist learn the ways of audio production and keeping the scene alive. I would like to take the last few lines to express my gratitude to Nakitia (my wife), Rythum & Zeanna (my daughters), and all those people who pushed me just a little further by saying a family kills the spirt and drive to party until the sun comes up! Without the support of these factors I would never have come this far! Also, I would like to shout out to all the people who have kept me going throught the years with the love and respect they have shown me. I shall mention no names, but you know who you are. And until we meet again .... Remember .... Peace Love Unity Respect Responsiblity |
