Artist description
While most celtic and contra dance bands include live musicians, this one exists purely in the realms of my computer. I thought I'd try something that's never been done before, namely write and arrange celtic tunes without the use of live musicians! I arrange the tunes using Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 connected to a Yamaha synthesizer, which produces all the sounds. This does not mean no live musicians contributed, however. I've had all my tunes played by several friends who play fiddle, I've tested all of them on accordion, and have received significant advice from a percussion player. According to all, the songs work, could be played with live musicians, and sound almost as good. Enjoy! |

Artist History
In 1996, I received my first MIDI sequencer, which I immediately started using to compose music. At first it was classical and "new age" but after I wrote my first celtic tune at Pinewoods Camp in the summer of 2000, I began to explore how to arrange this genre of tune in MIDI. I learned a great deal about writing guitar parts, and worked on getting each instrument to sound as real as possible. After "Fiddle Tune", I began to come up with ideas for other Reels and Jigs, which I started to arrange as well. As of late, I have six songs in various stages of completion and am planning to release an album, called "Phonosynthesis", sometime next year. Please look for it! |
