Don't let the cover picture of Adman fool you into thinking this kid is some "thug life" imitator; rather, his debut record, Jammin', puts this rappin' youngster in various hip-hop situations that explore positive-tip rhymes about doing his best, showing off in front of neighborhood girls, and having fun. Quick to offer advice, Adman is not only proud of his overall good demeanor, he wishes to spread his life-enriching sentiments of non-drug use ("Drugs aren't cool/Especially in school fool") and other well wishes onto his listener. Highlights abound on this, albeit rough, first effort. "Skateboardin'," which explores his love of skateboarding and his various techniques ("I always use the regular foot when jumping over a bush/Then I show off with my mongo foot push") and "Da Hoop Scoop" encapsulate his carefree approach to life. Overall, Jammin' suffers from generally thin production and schizophrenic beats which range from straight-up hip-hop à la Digable Planets or P. Diddy, to dub, to house, and then infused with some early-'80s Newcleus "Jam on It" naïveté. Nonetheless, this is a pretty entertaining record. Master P, look no further -- this is your next project. ~ Jack LV Isles, All Music Guide
