    Artist description
The story behind their music is longer than the history of the band, with influences ranging from vintage/northern soul to new wave and post punk bands. Live reviews have often linked them to the likes of the Stooges and MC5, because of intense gigs with massive sound- scapes and raw energy, but this is only half the story (and a bit narrow- minded...) Doing classic garage rock with a massive twist, there's a lot more to their music than raunchy, disted guitars, stormy organs and drums from hell. It is all about the spirit. Rise above all contest with attitude and taste and you can never go wrong! Admit that you're tired of talking about "genuine 60s garage", as you know that this is the 21st century, not 1967! This is what Vendor is all about. Do not be alarmed if their next record is a psycho-gospel-blues one, because if you want to be modern, it is all about pushing your own creative self over the edge.

Formed in the summer of 1997, Vendor began playing live in the spring of 1998, and has scince played regurarly in and around Stockholm, both with a broad variety of other bands, and on our own. Starting out as a rock/pop-project, we now strive to make a bit harder/dancier rock'n'roll, with a broader range of influences, stretching from blues and soul, garage and psychedelia, punk and new wave, to dance and experimental music.

    Press Reviews
Comments made by the press: "Garage rock in a 60s rather than 70s spirit. Or, if you'd like, more Pebbles than Stooges, which is liberating considering the strong Swedish Stooges-mob." - Magazine groove, 2000 "Vendor themselves believe that they should be discovered live but experienced recorded. I agree. I went that way. Saw them live. Bought the record" - kompressor.nu, 2000 "How does your utopia look?" "We'd like to arrange some sort of jury "outing" record-company people that creates a product instead of giving genuine bands a fair chance. All musicians with a vision should get a starting-up scheme so that they could have a shot in the music they believe in! The ultimate vision: for all bands to have the opportunity to do music without having to compromise, without having to see it as a hobby." - Lead singer Mathias in Darling magazine, 1998 "It's psycho ramalama from late 60s to early 70s. Vendor from Stockholm sounds like a mix of fellow Swedes Mazarine Street, Nymphet Noodlers, Cry and The Royal Beat Conspiracy. You can tell they've been listening to a fair amount of Velvet Underground, David Bowie, New York Dolls and MC5." - Radio Karlstad, 2000 "They do play garage rock, and though references can be made, Vendor stands pretty safe on their own sound." - Interview in Svenska Dagbladet, 1999 "What does it take to be a garage band?" "Maybe a naive and spontaneous attitude towards the music. To dare play those riffs and beats you really like. Everyone agrees it swings but not everyone go onstage doing it, and getting away with it. It very often becomes pub rock if the band is boring and totally non-inventive" "But it really is only about love without commitment. That non-inquisitive relationship you'd like to have with your woman." - Interview in Dagens Nyheter, 2000"With unmerciful volume Vendor gave a lesson in how real garage rock should sound." "A band with lyrics as cool as 'A violent action rumble/I was made to tumble...' you just can't miss, even though the summerheat sounds like more fun than serious tinnitus." - Live review, Nya Wermlands Tidningen
