Artist History
Brian McCoy, Eddie Cotter, and Terry Blankenship from "The Gabriel Hounds" reformed as a trio called "The Kells". We did our first gig together on St. Patrick's Day 2001. The Kells were born exactly 1 year to the day a fter "The Gabriel Hounds" ended, and lasted another year before disbanding. Brian and Terry are currently working as a duo. |

Brian McCoy - flute, penny whistle, low whistle, uilleann pipes: Brian McCoy's family hails from Ballaghadereen, Co. Roscommon, home of many fine musicians, including Matt Molloy and Seamus Tansey, with the Killorans living next door. Brian's family emigrated to the USA giving him the opportunity to play with the many legendary Irish musicians living in Chicago. He has won numerous competitions, taught and played at The Milwaukee Irish Festival for ten years, and performed at Willie Clancy Week in Clare. He has also played live on Irish Radio on several occasions. He spent the last five years in The Gabriel Hounds as they took the USA by storm, playing all the largest Irish Festivals and appearing in Irish Music Magazine. Eddie Cotter - bodhran, percussio n: Eddie Cotter has played bodhran in Inisheer, and The Gabriel Hounds. He has taught bodhran workshops at most of the major Irish festivals in the USA. He is a Catholic Youth Minister and founded the Dead Theologians Society which now has chapters around the world. Eddie appeared on MTV in his youth as a rock drummer with The Bellows. He is without a doubt one of the world's greatest bodhran players, amazing audiences whereever he performs.Terry Blankenship - bouzouki, mandola, mandolin, guitar, vocals: Terry played bouzouki and mandola in The Gabriel Hounds with Brian and Eddie, performed as a solo artist, and played in Cincinnati's premiere Celtic band Silver Arm. Terry performed at the Master Musician's Festival, which was filmed and broadcast nationa lly for PBS, and did Saint Patrick's Day television specials in 1997 and 1998 for the "Culture of Diversity" show.Before playing traditional music Terry was the lead guitarist and vocalist in the rock band Daemon. Terry played guitar with Robert Fripp and the League of Crafty Guitarists, and did two CD's and a video with him on E.G. Records and Virgin Records. Terry also played on the CD "The Lady or the Tiger" wih Robert Fripp and Toyah Wilcox. He has toured the USA and Europe, doing an MTV special with Fripp, and playing a sold out show at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. ˆ |
