Artist History
Founded while its members were still in high school, the Icarus Project originally had five members and a different name. Ballpoint was formed from the ashes of failed punk/ska bands at the death of the third wave scene in Western Massachusetts. In 1998 and 1999, the group played numerous shows in the New England area, all without recording a demo. After some turbulence in mid 1999, the band broke up. The name Ballpoint was also being used by an Australian punk group, as it turns out. After months without a practice, three members decided to write new songs and start playing again. After graduating high school, the group took more time off, as members went their separate ways. All returned to Western Mass, however, to record a demo and start playing shows again. |
