Artist History
The two punditz have known each other for the last fourteen years or so. Classmates from junior grade and now band members of MIDIval PunditZ, the two have come a long way. Bumming around with music and mixes since years, the two formalized the punditZ concept in 1997 when the rave scene had hit big in Mumbai, Goa and Delhi. Its then that the Punditz bought some equipment enough to start a small home studio and immediately went on to record their first few tunes. Some of them like 'Whoaa', 'Industrial Breeze' and 'Desert Glitch' did various rounds of the clubs in India. The two had absorbed most of the genres featuring at the clubs and wanted to get out of it and give something else. No one seemed to be doing something about the music being played at clubs here and they realized it was time to spawn a solid act from India."A true Indian music outfit for the future!"Not seriously involved with the trance/rave movement, the main focus revolved around break beats and Indian soundz in their music.Realizing soon enough that there are others in UK working on the same concept, they sent across demos of their music to Talvin Singh. They were then signed up with his label, Omni records for a full-length album and for a single song in the forthcoming compilation Anokha 2 (Soundz of the Asian underground). |
