Artist History
Formed in 1998, as "the Gizmonics," a name taken from Mystery Science Theater 3000. We wrote some songs with our original bassist Scott, but the chemistry improved when Matt took over the bass duties. Our first show was at the Galaxy in St. Louis, at the farewell show of local hardcore favorites Dogfight. A couple of shows later, we changed the name to St. James Gate in honor of Arthur Guinness, and our collective fondness for his creation. We went on to play shows with the Lower Class Brats, Beerzone, the GC5, the Eyeliners, Violent Society, Tsunami Bomb, Endless Struggle, the Unseen, and Pressure Point, and had one ill-fated show booked with American legends Iron Cross, which got botched due to bullshit...after talking to their vocalist, the infamous Sab Grey, we can assure you that the screw up was no fault of theirs (nor ours). Around December 2001/January 2002, we decided to take a break due to a creative rut. It took decidedly longer than we'd thought to get things back in action, but eight months later, in August 2002, we're back at work. Some new songs are in the works, with some new recordings to follow...so keep your ears peeled. |
