    Artist description
Drawing more on their differences than their similarities, Australian songstress Heidi-Louise Margocsy (vocals) and production engineer/ bassist/ gearwhore Eric Michael Cohen create a blend of modern electronica, 80s britpop, industrial, new-wave, and high-octane postgrunge. Building on a foundation of guitars, bass, and drum machines, they infuse loops, homemade samples, and modern synths. Heidi's raw, emotional, instantly recognizable vocals set kittymonkey apart, making the music organic and personal amidst the blitz of electronic science and sorcery. Since recording "Satellites for Animals", kittymonkey has been taking its future/vintage rock/electronica sound to the clubs. All the normal elements of live music combine with key elements from their recordings; resonant-filtered keyboards, scratchy vinyl drum loops, and damaged electric pianos. The resulting sound is massive, textured, and diverse. Ted Riederer (Thumper, Heidi, Go Away Evil) handles guitars, covering parts that range from reverb-soaked swells to over-overdriven rhythm. On drums, Joe Goretti (Ron Levy's Wild Kingdom, Chrissi Poland Band) adds his mastery of R&B/jazz/trip-hop/rock to the everchanging kittymonkey palette. With uncompromising drive and wealth of experience, kittymonkey are poised for success. Press in the northeast US has been very favorable, and kittymonkey is set to go to radio in the fall. They continue to write and play out, with plans of continued touring throughout the fall and winter.

    Press Reviews
5 out of 5 stars and "Hot Pick" from 24-7 Reviews!!! "...you never know what to expect next, but you know you are going to love it regardless... ...Kittymonkey are the type of performers/musicians who define the term 'musical innovation.' The group's synergy enables them to design an explosive cocktail of synthetic beats, drums, guitars, and bass which other local performers should take notice of and be inspired by... ...The (11) tracks found on Satellites for Animals stand well alone, each taking a different artistic perspective which one cannot avoid noticing, making the music an inexplicable phenomena. It will only be a matter of time till their local audience becomes a much larger national and international audience..." You've got to read this review! The quotes here are just the tip of the iceberg. Check it out at: http://www.digitalartifact.org/247revs.htm 4 out of 4 stars from Boston Soundcheck Magazine!!! "...Let me just say now, kittymonkey does not need a paint can to stand out from the crowd - their recording is outstanding enough on its own....hypnotic, compelling, silky music embodied in a blend of electronica and industrial that has moments of dreamy, floating cadences and others of techno-like pulsating rock rhythms. Kittymonkey's sound is one that is sophisticated in that you picture it being played in an trendy European-like nightclub yet as polished as it is, kittymonkey founders lead vocalist Heidi-Louise Margocsy (a native of Australia) and bassist/electronics/vocalist Eric Michael Cohen put enough of the edge in the industrial end performance-wise to appeal to those who walk on the rock side between Heidi-Louise's genuine, sultry, emotional vocals (which are beautiful even when she's angry) and the overall instrumental mix...The production and recording quality is unquestionably top-notch - sounds like a major release..." Scroll down at http://www.bostonsoundcheck.com/pages/cd2.html to read the whole review! Metronome Review! Call it what you will: cutting edge, racy, flamboyant, left-of-center...Kittymonkey is all that and more. Led by lead singer Heidi-Louise Margocsy's moody, ethereal vocals, Satellites for Monkeys is one of the artsy bodies of work I've heard in quite some time. Bandmates Eric Michael Cohen on bass-vocals-electronics, Ted Riederer on guitar and Aron Miller on drums set up steadfast rhythms that allow Margocsy to splash her colorful vocal temperaments on each track. The result is a moody conundrum of sound that pushes the boundaries of electronic rock as we know it. The Manray crowd and other adventurous types will love Kittymonkey's sound...pioneering and industrious. From The Noise issue #213 "...I'm hooked. Damn, this is a good album. I'll be listening to this one alot. All killer no filler. Close enough to Garbage to be familliar, original enough to be a bit foreign and interesting. Sexy, gritty, up-close melodic voice. And the soundscapes--gorgeous!..." Review in Aquarian Weekly! "...post-midnight trip-hop confessions reminiscent of Morcheeba or the Sneaker Pimps... Whether playing a sexy chanteuse, a misplaced diva, or an all out rocker ... Margocsy goes down dark alleys of broken relationships with conviction and a learned poise..." -John Fortunado Review at Splendid EZine! "...Lead singer Heidi-Louise Margocsy has an excellent voice, and the band does an effective job of creating a wall of sound to back her up...Most importantly, the production is expertly handled, so the music sounds polished but not overproduced... this band may be one to watch in the near future." -mp Interview with Eric and Heidi in the July issue of Insite Magazine! Check you local newsstand - street date 07/13/01 5 out of 5 stars from Media Plus Magazine!!!! "....the day the kittymonkey cd showed up we stuck it in and listened to it nine times in a row. No Lie. Now allow us to tell you why.......like Sade with a fashionably-hip clue... like Portishead singing Coldplay tunes...'80s Britpop merged with a new millennium, crisp and clean brilliance sound...Kittymonkey is out there and you should definitely give them a good watch and listen..."
