Artist History
Crushed Red was started in 1999 by Nicholas Arthur and Doug Martin in Dallas under the name of Seven88. They had worked together in a previous band in the early 90s in Dallas called No Respect. That was a hard rock band that rose to the top of the Dallas metal scene in the early to mid 90s. The No Respect CD "The American Dream" has been re-released by Metal Mayhem Records and is still selling internationally. After recording several songs under the name Seven88, the band had progressed into a little bit of a different direction and decided to change the name to go with the new direction.
Mixing influences as wide ranging as dance, metal, and current alternative rock has given Crushed Red a unique sound in a music environment overloaded with rap rock and punk rock. The songs are dynamic and have good vocal hooks and melodies to complement the emotion of the music. Crushed Red is creating music that is meaningful through the lyrical ideas and also through the melody of the song.
The band is currently writing and recording songs for their first full length CD. Record label possibilities are currently being discussed as well as the possibility of doing an independent release of the CD in late 2001. A publishing deal has been completed with Redfin Music Publishing Company. The band is not currently playing any live dates in order to focus on completing the writing and recording of their upcoming CD. Their new website www.crushedred.com is currently under development.
