Artist History
Rubang B and Bob Touché first met on Sunday February 28th, when it was still 1999. They met at the estate of Vinnie Vegas, their mutual blig and an alumnus of the same university as Rubang. After watching Encino Man and an extensive Jeopardy marathon, the three of them decided to start a band that would not only supply them musical expression, money, and sex, but would profess the greatness of their two favorite actors, Charles Grodin and Pauly Shore. That was a productive day; they immediately wrote their original hit "Nugs, Chillin', and Grindage" and coined their own arrangements of "Bennie and the Jets" by Elton John and Bernie Taupen, and "Hava na Gila" by a man of Jewish descent whose name eludes us for the time being. They also had their first performance this very same day, serenading homeless people in a local park while serving them chili.A few weeks later they performed their first real gig at a local art show. Their droning fluxus rhythms hypnotized the crowd, so much so that one anxious fan tried to join them, under the false impression that they were "just jamming." However, they attacked him and sent the hippie packing. Although this first groundbreaking performance brought the Poly Gröton Experience to the limelight, the majority of their early fan base were worthless punks drawn to their "devil-may-care" attitude, and not their musical genius.Throughout the years, the three brothers Gröton have expanded their musical horizons to synth-driven video game themes, frat party anthems, "so bad it's good" 70's rock, classically influenced orchestrally arranged masterpieces, and ill bugnasty hip hop as their alter egos the Cheo Brothers, but still stayed true to the minimalist performance art that started it all. The Poly Gröton Experience has managed to debut new songs, original medleys, and revamped renditions of their classic hits at every corner, and have never played the same show twice. The band's debut album was co-released on both My Room Records and the band's own Oedipus Recs, titled Charles Grodin's Angry Robot Band. The album truly captured the magic of the three self-proclaimed "baby geniuses of rock." Their future plans include a feature length film co-starring Charles Grodin and Pauly Shore as police officers in a light-hearted comical mystery suspense thriller bonanza, as well as a rock-opera with the Poly Gröton Orchestra, and rocking forever.DUCK DOWN!, Gröton |
