Upon the first listen I am reminded of the music my twin brother was trying to get me to listen to in college as the 80's were coming to an end - low-fi indie pop with a knack for melodies (but, obviously, without the drum and bass). Well, I was too into Husker Du and 7 Seconds to give anything that didn'tstart with a '1-2-1,2,3,4' followed by an onslaught of lyrics aimed at The Man an honest listen, but have since come around to listening to just about anything not found on commercial radio. the cd most strongly reminds me of Kevin Seconds' solo cds or what Superchunk may have sounded like had they began as an acoustic duo; acoustic guitar indie pop with strong melodies (and the occasional harmony).I gave the cd a second listen as I unpacked from the trip/cleaned my bike and realized it was the perfect music to be playing as I was outside cleaning. It's quiet enough that it doesn't demand complete attention, but has enough going on that I found myself humming along as I concentrated on other things. After a third listen as I drove through town to get some much needed coffee I found myself coming back to tracks 3 and 12 (don't have the case in front of me); two tracks that I believe capture the best moments of what you do; simple chords with minimal accompaniment and a strong melody -with just the right about of pop sensibility (at times, I can hear traces of Wilco). Also with the third listen I no longer was wishing for a drum to kick in... what's next?c hrisps. Again, thank you for the cd. It will be competing with the new Red House Painters to see which spends most time in the cd player this week. Best of luck with the band! Chris Diorio Wheeling, West Virginia
