Artist History
DUBHUB NETVORK hails out of a discreet home studio out of the rough side of the Potrero Hill District in San Francisco. The project was born from an underground net radio station, titled "DUBHUB::LIVE ARCHIVE JIVE," streaming collections of ambient, downtempo, and drum n bass tracks for friends and other enthusiasts since '89. A hotline server was then set up to accommodate other dj/programmers and new media artists as a forum and file exchange online community space for trading and networking purposes. Having the access to the latest programs and sample/midi files, an online collaboration [virtual band] was then setup by the primary server administrators: io/jungleboy [San Francisco], ZhengDao [Beijing], and Mr.E [Boston]. Using CUSeeMe, ICQ, and Hotline, ideas and song collaborations were produced utilizing "The Bridge"-dubhub's home studio.Due to the energy crisis in California, the server has been shut down temporarily and closed off to non-members while the net radio stream continues to play archived sets. Live performances may be caught online in CUSeeMe White Pine Cafe-Coffee Room irregularly as guerilla shows which are announced on the net radio stream during live mode. Head admin, io/jungleboy, has since then taken up the title DUBHUB NETVORK and began to release some of his solo work produced from the project and is now rebuilding the NETVORK for preparation into an independent multimedia label. |
