Artist description
Divided first became one in the spring of '99. Members came together from past bands and early friendships to create what was then known as Drift. Drift hailing from San Jose, CA quickly became a strong force in the local music scene with their eclectic sound and talented musicianship. Consisting of vocalist Ryan Reynoso, double neck guitarist Paul Borges, bassist Nelson Candido, drummer Paul Avila, and percussionist Gabe Osorio. Grabbing influence from Faith No More, Sevendust, Incubus, Puya, and Tool to name a few, Drift pieced together a sound of their own. In Novemebr of 2000 Drift stepped up their musical dedication and decided upon a new name and attitude. Divided was the new chosen name, with that Divided pushes their music and performance to a new level. Performing regularly, Divided's music has been compared to such bands as Faith No More, Incubus, and 311. Through it all, Divided just enjoys the chance to share their music with others and hopes to one day be able to successfully play their music as a fulltime job. |

Press Reviews
"Faith No More reminiscent melodies mesh with Tool like introspection and ignite with early Incubus era playfulness. Technically sound and well versed in a variety of clever playing styles, the band utilize a wealth of instruments to give themselves a somewhat funky edge that doesn't detract from their serious outlook. Energetic and powerful, their music boasts a sense of complexity that will appeal to many a musician and yet their emotional song craft and slightly upbeat nature allow them to be remain entirely accessible." - wookubus (theprp.com)
"World, jazz and metal collide in this rock-fusion band featuring vocalist Ryan Reynoso, double-neck guitarist Paul Borges, bassist Nelson Candido, drummer Paul Avila and percussionist Gabe Osorio." - Sarah Quelland (San Jose Metro "Aural Fixation")
"Unlike many underground bands, Divided do not suffer from their music sounding empty, in fact each repeat listen will find a new style or sound emerging for it's share of your attention. This makes for an album that is infectious and will cause for multiple plays and rabid attention to detail." - Raychul (www.nosebleed17.com) |
