Artist description
Index plays a hybrid style of hardcore, metal, and grindcore. Our lyrics comment on society's woes, personal struggles, and government shortcomings. Stylistically, we would probably appeal to fans of older death metal, especially early Earache bands in particular. The band members come from eclectic musical backgrounds and listen to a wide array of sounds ranging from bjork to darkthrone. |

Artist History
Current and former members of the Index founded the seminal American grindcore band Enemy Soil. After 8 odd years of musical attrition, Enemy Soil called it quits, and some months later the Index was conceieved and brought about by mastermind/grindfather Rich. Drummer Jake and guitarist Mark soon joined forces with Rich, and vokillist Elysia was subsequently recruited. Finally, the lineup was solidified with the addition of Enemy Soil co-founder R. Mason on bass. Interestingly, Rich, Mason, and Elysia worked together in a previous albeit short lived band called Midian. Recently, Index and Mason haveamicably parted ways, leaving the band a four piece at the moment. In addition to the self titled MCD, index appears on the latest 625 compilation and willbe issuing a new 7" in the summer of 2001. |
