Artist description derek neibarger was born in Lawrence, Kansas in 1970. inspired by bands such as Motley Crue and Judas Priest he joined his first band at the age of 14, playing a Ibanez Richenbacher bass that he bought for $100. In the years that followed derek recieved instruction from an accomplished jazz-bassist and wrote and performed with bands whose styles ranged from hardcore punk to blues and even top40. at the age of 19 he tried his hand at lead-vocals and found new doors being opened. using his flexible voice as a means to work with different types of bands, derek was able to able to escape the confines of a Kansas garage and pay his dues in the clubs, opening for bands such as Green Day, Neurosis, Local H, the Urge, touring on the East Coast and performing at CMJ in 1999. Noise Carnival finds derek doing what he loves most; writing and recording loud, aggressive, melodic rock.
