Artist History
The Melanie Susuras Band has been together since May of 1999 and have accomplished a lot in such a short time. The band recorded there first CD in the summer of 1999, played Colorado's Lilith Fair in the same year, opened up for Lowen and Navarro at The Soiled Dove in Colorado and have come to appreciate quite a loyal following in their hometown. |

Press Reviews
http://www.melaniesusuras.comCatalina: http://www.denvermusicplus.comMy usual complaint about this style of music is that it gets boring quickly, but that’s not a worry with this CD. Melanie keeps a variety, dancing from smooth and mellow to poppy and funky with ease. The songs don’t sound like one continual jam session, each one seems carefully selected and crafted for maximum listening pleasure. There’s a reason she’s risen to the head of her genre, and been selected to play for could-be-next-President Al Gore. Playing, singing, and songwriting have all been successful on this offering, and I look forward to seeing her star continue to rise. Colorado People's Fair 2000 Audtions: Not surprising was Melanie Susuras's shining performance, and if you haven't seen her yet, you're really missing out. Colorado's Melanie Susuras opened the festival (Lilith Fair) on a side-stage with yeasty folk-blues tunes sung with a rich voice.- Mark Harden Talent Search Stories - Denverby Carolyn Snell In downtown Denver, on the hip Market Street, lies The Soiled Dove, one of the area's premiere singer/songwriter clubs. Although it showcases mainly rock acts, by the looks of the flashy "Soiled Dove" sign and brick walls, you would think you would hear some jazz or possibly even a comedian. Nevertheless, this was a perfect place for a full house to view the finalists of the Denver Talent Search. The diversity of the evening's performers was especially apparent in Beth Quist and Tina Malia's East Indian-influenced "Om Asatona Sad Gamaya" and Olga Mundling's cover of the Jimmy Cox blues tune, "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out." Runner up Kristina Ingham looked very similar to an early Sarah McLachlan (complete with two side braids) and grand prize winner Melanie Susuras' (whose grandmother was in the crowd) strong vocal performance reminded me of Martina McBride. |
