Artist description
From Fluvanna, a flat West Texas town, echoes Thrift Store Cowboys, a six-piece entourage who has been waywardly drifting throughout honky-tonks for the past 3 years. They deem themselves "alternative country," but admit to influences such as Elvis Presle y, Jimmy Rodgers, Bob Wills, and Ryan Adams-the greatest of their genres. Thrift Store Cowboys incorporate Spanish guitar with the eerie moans of voilin and steel guitar, along with powerful and chilling lyrics. These self-taught musicians and song writers are all young, but are poets in the truest sense of the word. Their souls have lived in another time and place and their lyrics reflect that and tell of lost loves and dreams. Melancholy melodies conjure up visions of sultry desert nights and lonely blac ktop highways. Their original music cannot be strictly categorized. They play "desert" music, which is commonly referred to as life music. Loosely defined, it is their cry to return to the way things used to be, a way to find themselves, and a way to find their home. Oddly enough, it can also be the mourful wail of lost love, wandering in the mountains is search of their partner. It fits any mood and evokes every emotion. |
