Artist description
The Kate Rays sound can be best described as the ever popular coined phrase “girlie rock.” Kim has been known around town for her “too sweet to be tough” voice, and at times have been described as “The Go-Go’s on crack!” The group uses this to their full advantage. This band has been compared to such groups as Belly, Blake Babies, Velocity Girl, and most recently Sarge. Kim has heavy influences of pop-bands like Throwing Muses, Sleater-Kinney, and Yo La Tengo. Brad is influenced by bands such as Let’s Active, Pixies, and the DB’s, where as Richard, the actual studying music student, is attracted to a more diversified namesake, such as Tortoise, Jonathan Richman, and Gastr del Sol. The three members often use their influence to arrive at one swell place together. |
