Artist History
Sigil was founded in early 1998, when the band was still only singer/guitarist Guilherme Dakr and keyboardist Werther Azevedo. At that time, it was planned just to play alternative rock with some keyboards and classical piano.
Time passed, and songs being written, mostly with grunge influence. The band would only be whole when guitarist Fernando Mano and drummer Rafael Miranda joined in. The band had gigs with this line-up, sometimes with a guest bassplayer, sometimes switching instruments so that the three frontmen played the bass sometimes.
In the beginning of 2001, Sigil passed through deep changes. The songs started to become a lot darker and heavier, with more atention towards the keyboards and more complex guitarwork. We noticed that it would be impossible to keep on without a bassist... it's when Marcos Erbiste joins the band. At the same time, Rafael Miranda left the band due to several reasons, and Dan Eisenberg filled his place. The band finished recording its first EP in August 2002, after which Marcos Erbiste left the band. He was replaced by Marcelo Marsili. The EP is called Leftover and has already been released (we still seek a label, though). The viola in the EP was recorded by guest musician Andrew Waid. |
