Artist description
PETRUS is Pedro Di Pierro. He lived in Berkeley, California, where he was born, for one year, before coming to Brazil, where he lives today. Since a very early age, he demonstrated a fine musical taste, ranging from classical music to the brazilian samba and bossa nova. He also liked Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. At the age of 8, Petrus started with piano classes, his first instrument, and learned many popular tunes by ear. He also learned, by himself, to play the guitar, the flute, the harmonica and some percussion instruments, like the traditional brazilian pandeiro. His first musical group was formed in 1996, with Tiaraju Aronovich, a talented guitar player and friend, who now studies music in California. At this time, MICHEL BUTNARIU, an exceptional pianist and composer, was already his teacher. Michel is the producer of the present work. Recently, Petrus participated in a band called Cattus, whose hit "Ilusao a Dois" was heard in major radios in Sao Paulo and some TV programs. The band, led by the fabulous singer Eduardo Karpat, broke up due to show-biz misunderstandings, just before an important show. Since then, PETRUS has dedicated his time to his solo carreer, producing tracks for brazilian artists and composing songs of the most different styles, ranging from JAZZ to DRUM N'BASS, from CLASSICAL music to SAMBA and BOSSA NOVA. Welcome to BONA DEA, a musical journey, and PETRUS' first solo album! |
