There he faced the challenge that many young black males face—survival. Dedicated not to follow both his siblings to prison at age 14 Kareem began fighting his daily battles with a pen and paper. Honing his craft he further developed his solo talent and began rapping and producing at recreation. After moving to Lansing, MI in 1996, he joined a 5 member rap group called The Infamous in 1998 which included the best rappers at Everett High School including himself, and Ervin Magic Johnson’s son Andre. At the end of High School, K-Mental packed his 2 bags and a box with a computer, and caught a 3-day Greyhound bus to L.A. with $900 and no relatives. With the ambition of homelessness he managed to grab a job for Fearon Entertainment on Hollywood Blvd. as an all-around student, Artist in Development and office assistant. There he garnered the attention of several upstart labels such as, Magic Johnson Music, Hard 2 Hit Entertainment, and (Baby Face) Edmonds Recording Group. After 9 months of learning and a lack of satisfaction for the advancement of his art he returned to Michigan and regrouped. While back at home in June 2000, He took advantage of an offer from Zoawe Records to move to Chicago and Record his Debut Album. 6 months later he was living in Chicago, promoting other artist and performing there at Clubs, and today, at the end of 2002 **** Independently**** The Debut Album by KrazyMental “His KrazyMentality” is finished and ready to be heard. Producers include Kazwon of Chicago, HitCity of NewJersey, Marcellus Dawson of Minneapolis, MN, and Jah-soul a producer signed to Zoawe Records in Chicago.
