Artist description
Musically compared to bands ranging from Sister Hazel to Better Than Ezra and Tonic, Jacks & Sixes is a diverse blend of pop/rock with a bit of alternative to spice up the mix. It is however, Jacks & Sixes’ live show that sets them apart from other bands. Filled with energy, incredible harmonies, and pure musical talent, the only thing that a J6 show sometimes lacks is clothing. |

Artist History
In 1997, while still in high school, guitarist Josh Alexander and bassist Justin Smith hooked up with drummer Neal Shotwell to form the band that would become Jacks & Sixes. In the fall of 1999, singer/guitarist Robert Cooperman joined the trio along with backup vocalist Justin Getz. However, as Getz left to pursue an acting career in Los Angeles, again something was missing. The last piece of the puzzle fell into place as keyboardist/singer Chris Wilson joined the band to add beautiful vocal harmonies and yet even more musical talent to complete what is now Jacks & Sixes. During the summer of 2000, Jacks & Sixes released a self-produced 3-song demo CD called The Breakfast Sampler. They were invited to do a live studio acoustic show at a local radio station which, combined with their notorious performing antics, produced enough buzz for the band to develop a local following in just the one short summer. In April of 2001, Jacks & Sixes competed in a Battle of the Band to determine who would be the last addition to this year's Forty Acres Music Festival in Austin, Texas. J6 came out on top and, as a result, performed at Austin's annual Forty Acres Fest with Soul Asylum. |
