Artist History
Named after a character in a novel written by lead singer and guitarist, Andy Weston, the Clavis Isley Band was formed in 1996 when Ron Weston, the band's bass guitarist suggested the family get together to sing some of the old tunes they used to play. Andy and Ron were founding members of the popular Louisville, Ky 60's rock group "The Ultra-Tones", when they were in their early teens. Andy Weston performed as a solo artist with NSD Records in Nashville and Tortoise Records. A couple of releases,"Early Morning Love," and "I Believe in Someone," received excellent airplay across the country. Joining the guys are Sharon Smith Weston and Cheryl Campos Weston. Sharon, who plays organ and synthesizer, recorded for Dot Records. Her topselling recording, "There's Only One Way to Keep a Trucking Man Happy," featured Jerry Reed on lead guitar and charted in Billboards Top 100. Cheryl, the pianist, also plays synthesizer and has performed Gospel music as a soloist and in groups for several years. The Clavis Isley Band appeals to a wide range of audiences by playing old songs that bring back memories and recent ones that are making their own. Along the way they mix in a healthy dose of originals! When you get a chance to see "The Clavis Isley Band," Take it!! You'll be glad you did! |
